Adding a new pet to your household can be super stressful for you and your fur babies. Over the years I have had countless pets and the transition process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. The most recent pet I added was my sweet baby Geno about 7 years ago. His sister, Lily, was already 5 and she ruled the house. Since Geno was a kitten I kept him in my master bathroom for a couple of days then slowly let him roam into the bedroom. For about a month I supervised the time him and Lily spent together. I was lucky that Geno is pretty spunky and is not afraid of anything, even his grumpy, anti-social sister. These days they love to snuggle up on the couch and give each other lots of kisses. I am lucky that the process of transitioning a new cat to my house wasn’t very hard but I know from experience that this isn’t always the case.
I have partnered up with Figo Pet Insurance for this post to share this great in depth slideshow explaining different things you can try to introduce your new cat to other cats, dogs, and even your human babies! :) If you are thinking about adding a new cat to your home or already have this slideshow is worth a read. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions too! I never mind sharing tidbits that worked for me.
